Great new yak site -- and cart plans!

5 posts in this topic

Say, if you've got a SOT with scupper holes and want to make your own cart, check out the plans at this site: http://www.noyopacific.com/cart.html

They're really very nice, as is the main site. http://www.noyopacific.com

In fact, there's lots of cool stuff to check out, including a long and detail yak-fishing how-to page.

I"m not associated with the site, I just stumbled across it and think it's worth visiting.

BK: Absolutely I do. In fact, if you go to Cobra's website, you'll see their version of the same thing. JonS has built one like it, and so have I. But the plans at that site should make for much less of the kind of trial and error I had to go through to get the cart to work right. Good luck, and if you have any questions along the way, post 'em here.

There are two prblems with that cart plan.

First you need to add two t's in the middle to support the wheight of the boat.

Second the detail of the axle support is not clear. I use a 3/4 reducer and thread in a cap that has been drilled out to 1/2 inch. this suports the axle at both ends solid.

We have a cart with 10 inch wide wheels that a guy from phila. is making. See it at www.kayakwheels.com Although he will ship direct we sell it cheaper. The cart is adjustable to fit a large variety of yaks.
