BrooklynBridger
Skrilla - thanks. Your technique has me curious... Do you do a lite coat and then a heavier second coat? Mark
skrilla
Skrilla - thanks. Your technique has me curious... Do you do a lite coat and then a heavier second coat? Mark Pretty much. Lite first coat. Additional coats a little heavier. After I apply I let it sit still with the guides up for a few minutes, wick off any excess that collects on the bottom, then let it turn. As long as the finish doesn't look like footballs when it hardens.
BrooklynBridger
Skrilla: I'm just about ready to try etex in light coats on an older rod. One question, how long do you let the coats sit before next coat? Thanks. Mark
Sudsy
If you want them to bond into one coat then within 72 hours (24 to initially dry) If you want them to stay separate coats then more then 72 hours between coats Many arguments have been made either way in the plug building forum about this - personally i haven't found any noticeable difference One thing to remember, wipe the haze off with a soft rag and a bit of alcohol before doing next coat no matter how long you decide to wait.
