2nd Outing-Virginia Kayak Fishing Association

1 post in this topic

Well everyone, wish you could have made it to the second outing. Rudee produced for us. Fished from 3:30 unitl 7:30. There were five Kayaks again and I was the only returning kayak. The weather man was wrong again. The cold front came through but only a cold down and then warmed right back up. It only rained lightly at the very end of the evening around 8 pm. The no-see'ems were biting and I, like most other forgot their bug spray. Besides the no-see'ems biting the fish were too. There were two stripers caught (both on fly rods, one even by me). There were several Taylor Blues caught. I know that I caught two, another broke me off and lost one. There were at least one Speckled Trout caught. I also so had something take brake me off on my fly rod. Never saw it, but it hit hard, pulled harder than any of the fish I caught. I figure it was either a large Striper(since they were in the area) or a nice Speck. Either way, I will be tying some more of that pattern really soon. Rudee is producing so get out there and fish.
