PFDs

Recommended Posts

Lotus Designs. I know where you go and what you do, I wouldn't screw around with inflatables. A good foam PFD is reasonably comfortable, probably ard 100 bucks with pockets you want. Doug has same as me, I think he'll tell you they are pretty comfortable too.

"I have ... put a lump of ice into an equal quantity of water ...  if a little sea salt be added to the water we shall produce a fluid sensibly colder than the ice was in the beginning, which has appeared a curious and puzzling thing to those unacquainted with the general fact."- Joseph Black

There really should be no discussion on PFDs. You should buy the best one you can afford, one that is rated by the Coast Guard(I use the Type II I think) and it should fit properly. Jon brings up and excellent point the fact you are disoriented when hitting the water, the PFD should do it's job not you make it do it's job by putting air into the unit. That's fine for surf fishermen that fill up their waders and want to make it back to shore. There are enough variables in fishing lets make safety the first one and the rest will fall into place.
