After not being able to find big enough eels in the local B&T's I finally bummed a couple of pots off a comm friend and set them last night. Man I got some real donkey d's now!

So, do I skin the plugs blue side or green side out?

IYO how would a swimmer like a big rebel windcheater work? Would it kill the action?

How much tail hanging off the end of the plug?

Plug both sides work for me. The lighter side seems to work better towards dawn. I leave 5" or so hanging with 8" of heavy mono sticking out to prevent fouling. I've never tried the rebels just Atom JR's, reverses and needlefish. I bet a rebel would work fine though.

You can do either, I like to have both as a color difference.

I would stick to large metal lips like Atom 40's or the beachmaster cowboys. Beachmaster makes the needlefish eelskin plugs withthe groove already cut into it, Bernies in Brooklyn stocks them.

This is what I do, some may differ on opinion.

I use a skin that leaves 5-7 inches of tail section hanging off of the back, I add a length of mono to the back of the plug prior to attaching the skin so the tail will not wrap around the back hook.
