rod rack

9 posts in this topic

Do a search for rod racks here; there's a lot of info.

I use ski racks front and back, bought them from Coleman very cheaply and they work fine.

This season I'm going to replace the rear rack with a row of 2" diam. PVC tubes slotted to allow the reels to snug into them.

Do you already have a luggage rack? If so, you can do an inexpensive one by using Berkeley Twist-Lok rod racks...nylon tie or screw them to the cross members of the luggage rack.

A simple, tried and true, method is a pvc tube attached to the rear rack crossbar (with a slot for the spinning reel leg / wider slot to set conventional reel body...slots face up). On the front crossbar, you install a simple SS utility spring clip. I've done these in permanent installations and I've even tie wrapped or taped 'em in place on the family suburban when going on a vacation and wanna bring rods along. You run a bungee across the front of the reel legs at the PVC tube and anchor it to the cross bar.

simple and effective.300
