anyone seeing any early returns?

Will the Rush fiasco hurt or embolden the social conservatives today?

does it create a big win for Romney,

or unite them behind Santorum?

i think any impact is within the margin of error.

So your contention is that no matter what happens it will hinge on a Rush effect?

neither, today

social conservatives will come out for santorum, libertarians for paul, old people for newt and everyone else reluctantly for romeny

this hurts romeny in the presidential race and the dems are playing the GOP forcing women's right;s front and center, knowing that romney position is flippity partisan. He mishandled the questions about the blunt amendment and coupled with innuedo about his religion (let's face it, even the staunch social conservative women fear the church of latter day saints) this is going to be an issue brought up over and over by Obama's campaign

the social conservatives are not being fought for, they are conceded to the republicans (unless someone is so stupid to run as a third candidate)

The battle ground is for the swing vote.

And that is where the dems are a few steps ahead of the GOP right now. The more Romney has to battle santorum for the social conservative votes, the more the dems can alienate him from the middle of the roaders.

If you watched Romney drop the ball on the blunt amendment, you can see how this is playing out. He answered some nice middle of the road thing about what happens in the bedroom is no ones business, the realized he needed to be specific about the blunt amendment with primary votes on the line, knowing Santorum was already working that angle. So he flipped.

Romney's wife has started speaking at his engagements the past few days and I think she might help him a bit with women. To me, she's articulate and comes across sincerely and fairly warmly.

I think it helped Santorum, he did better yesterday than I think he would have BEFORE this shift to Social Issues began.

the Birth Control issue seems to be a win for Santorum and is helping him gain momentum.
