Thanks for everyone's help concerning this issue. You can only appreciate how much beach is unavailable to ANYONE when you see it in person, very sad ! Please take a few minutes and help those of us who fish there. Thanks, MAX

Letters to your congressman from constituents who live in his district carry the most weight. And I like your gumption. Good luck

With all due respect this not correct. The ONLY way we can effect change is for ALL of us who enjoy the outdoors and the land that was supposedly provided for us to do so is to stay united in the fight to keep the right.

Its already lost. Sorry.

We would rather argue amongst ourselves and show each other who the dominant male is by googling stuff and c+p, c+p, c+p. :upck:

Meanwhile the anti-environmentalists are well organized, funded, and unified in their hate for us.

Its done for you guys down there. All we can do is point to other areas they are focusing on and remember the lesson of the OBX.

One person can bring a positive change. It is very important to let the ones we put into office know how we feel, whether they listen or not.

Spray n pray, or careful aim with one shot, one kill: Two different approaches with two dramatically different results. I prefer to take careful aim, pull the trigger, and win.

Letters and calls from constituents and special interest groups based within a representative's district gain the most traction.

Second most attention is paid to pressure groups based outside the district, but which have active affiliates or members in the district.

Third most attention is paid to letters that mention having sent a check or donation to a pressure group active in the district, even if the writer is from outside the district.

Last on the list are calls and letters from people who cannot vote from inside the district. Unless the commotion is occurring in some highly defined, recognizable destination dependent upon tourism. In that case, letters and calls from outside the district can be useful if they accurately represent the individual impact felt by and returned by that writer.

Elected officials receive gazillions of letters, bombastic threats, pathetic appeals, and earnest pleas. Carefully targeting your concerns ensures that your effort is valued and weighed.
