Compund miter saw has me worried

Rate this topic

I have a Delta, 10" dual bevel compound miter saw. I haven't used it in about 5 years. It is mounted to a stand and is stored in the garage folded up on the stands side. I have a lawn an leaf bag covering the saw to keep dust out but not too tight that air doesn't circulate.

I have been cutting some bamboo laminate flooring today and when I let go of the trigger and the blade comes to a stop a spark or flash comes out of the housing.

What could be wrong with this or is it normal when the brake finally stops the blade. Thanks.

Sounds like the blade brake. Maybe it;s just a bit rusty and needs to be used more. I wouldn't worry about it .

The Brake is purely Electrical, a momentary reversing of the motor to slow it. Sparking is from the Brushes and are hinting that they need attention.
