hi

I was watching the spanish fly program and this capt in fla, tied this fly.

He used ep fibers tan and purple crystal flash'you can google louisiana toad fly

and see how it is made.

It seems this might be a great mullet fly he uses for redfish.

It just might work for stripers as well.

It was a very fast fly to tie and has a nice mullet shape to it.

Does anyone in here ever tie one?

I am not a fan of ep fibers is there another fiber with the same consistancy?

what other colors can you recommend ?

thanks guys

Mike P

Looks like John King's "Kinky" technique. He uses Kinky Fiber.

Could be tied that way in theory, but on the program the OP refers to, the guide ties the body/head with thick clumps of EP fiber slid over the hook shank like a sheath (so to cover 360) and then flared up like deer hair, continually stacking in this manner. He didn't trim the fly after, just cut the clumps to the desired length to begin with. He might not have had time on the program to clean it up with trimming though

I just watched the clip on the website and he did have to trim it. Nice looking fly, could be adapted to imitate a bunch of different bait fish
