Mildrum Guides?

I have done a lot of restoration of vintage offshore rods, some going back to the 1920's. I have never come across roller guides with ceramic shield protecting the rollers. This may have been done as an aftermarket add-on by someone.

Very interesting outlook on it, I never thought of that yet, I think they are Mildrums? Not sure, but there was only two of these is the box of guides i purchased. Everybody I have talked to has been equally baffled by these guides. I live in close proximity to the antique fishing tackle guru Tom Green, but to be honest, hes kind of a d!ck and I dont really like going in there, though he may have some knowledge about these.

Looking at your photos the shape of the guide it appears to be a Mildrum. Maybe it was a prototype by Mildrum or a limited production run to field test. Back in those days they did not have the corrosion protection and sealing capabilities we have today.
