Anyone remember coffee jello?

When I was a kid growing up in Worcester, homemade coffee jello was all the rage. Every diner and greasy spoon sold it. It was essentially old coffee (or sanka) loaded up with sugar, mixed with Knox gelatin, then placed in a shallow pan to set up. Afterwards, it was cut into small cubes and served in a small bowl with whipped creme and just plain cream poured over the top.

I really loved the stuff, but haven't seen it in the past 40 odd years.

That sounds vile, but that's probably just me.

I don't like coffee anything except coffee.

Iced coffee - blech

Coffee Ice Cream - blech

But, why not try and make it. The ingredients are cheap enough.

Live a little. :th:

I had to suffer through tomato aspic as a kid.

I'd call Division of Youth Services on your parents for that, but I know how you object to Governmental Interference. :p

but for real, that's abuse.

The jello molds I was subjected to were usually some kind of fruit and jello combo.

Fortunately the savory type was out of Mom's wheelhouse. This one is labeled asparagus and tuna mold....bleechh.

But note the fine linen...
