Academic or athletic? Just kidding. It really doesn't matter. If the kid earned it, who is to say it is less than righteous.

Ageed, its the total opposite of milking the system.

It's totally righteous verses less then righteous.

No. If they performed at a level high enough such that a university wants to reward them, good for them. It's earned.

No.

A seat in a college classroom is a scarce and valuable resource.

When a college awards an earned scholarship, it trades that valuable classroom seat for the academic value of the awardee's contribution to the college and to society post-graduation.

Shstudy, shstudy, shstudy.

Not even close.

Quite an accomplishment at the very least.

Why?

Depends largely on whether the money comes from college/university endowments etc. or if monies are derived in part or in whole from state/federal education funds. If it's an academic scholarship it is earned, athletic scholarships depend on how good a student the athlete is, kind of sucking at the nipple if you read/write at 7th grade level your freshman year in college cause your a good athlete. But at today's tuition prices if you can get any money suck that tit dry.......

not at all, that come directly from the college. my daughter gets an academic and sports scholarship because she's smart and she's a good athlete. That's why it's important for the kids to bust their butts in high school, especially in the last 2 years. the best advice a college recruiter ever gave us was "Don't take your senior year off"

My kid earned a full ride to Binghamton University. He earned every damn penny of that academic scholarship. Super proud of him and his first semester...3.96, 3 A's and A-. Freaking awesome. Congrats to your kid for earning a tremendous accomplishment!!!

ina discussion on college, a member here said that getting a scholarship was milking the system...

that member is basically an idiot, and thought that this might help him see that he isnt very bright.

Nonsense on the milking.

Can't say if the member is an idiot or not, but it's certainly an idiotic thing to say.

A Rhode Island member? Cause, well, they kinda :kook: ya know.
