Sounds like our grandson made it. The initiation ceremony of youngies crossing the equator on the SS Kennedy.

Read they had a hearty breakfast of seaweed,fish eggs and octopus's juice. yum,,yum.

 

Next year it will be his turn to dish it out.

My father did that a whole bunch of years ago when he was in the Navy, I still remember him telling me about it.

That is something special he'll remember.

Pass along a congratulations to the young Shellback :D Make sure he gets the traditional certificate and not the new "PC" form.

 

I crossed in 1982 in the South China Sea. I will try and scan some photo's of the ceremony to post here.

Haha that’s great, I was shell backed in 2008 on my freshman seaterm at MMA. Unfortunately the only way for him to “dish it out” would be for him to go on another shell back seaterm 5 years from now. I hope he can get out of there in 4years, I can say this because I am a fifth year senior now. I hope he brought his surf rod with him, I hear the Rooster fishing in Ecuador is insane this time of year.
