The Power of the President to send US forces into action without a formal declaration of war is one area that Ron Paul's candidacy will likely make us look at more closely. The congressional view that the power to declare war ultimately allows Congress the decision to commit troops to war seems to be the intention of the framers. I used to support the Executive's ability to make this decision. I now see this as too much power in the hands of one branch; no more American's should die without a President seeking approval from Congress. It's an idea who's time has come....again.
