Hate to be that guy, but it's location (and conditions). I'll give it a whack anyways. :)

First out of the bag (at night)-

Sod banks - sluggos

Breachways and inlets - jigs

Ocean beaches - wonderbread RM needle has been killing for the last few seasons.

Rocky points - Shads, they're cheap.

Of course, conditions will dictate.

All depends on the condition and location I am fishing. But my first that I always have in the bag is that Hairy Bucktail, and my fav Rind in the bag. :D

+1 :th: My I add , 1oz. to 2.5 oz :D

where I fish...as a rule, the first plugs to hit the water are:

-in calm water - 7" chicken scratch redfin w/ light load or 7" bone/black back bomber

-in rips - either a SS yellow darter or a small LIFVT yellow darter

From bulk head into calm or slow moving, shallow water, 6" 1oz Cordell Pencil Popper.  Surf, beach and faster moving water Cordells 7" Pencil Popper, or 5" Creek Chub Striper Strike in Silver Flash or Metallic.  Trying to expand the type of lures I use but hard to do when these 4 work best for me.
