Anchor quick release

3 posts in this topic

After doing a lot of reading and watching how to videos I made my anchor system that can be disengaged in a second and is recoverable.

Here is my version.

Pic 1

I used boat fender about $7, rope, couple of snap links, a bruce anchor, 1 1/2 half inch foam pipe insulation wrapped with 100mph tape for durability and epoxy. I cut and epoxied the pipe insulation to the ends of the fender so the rope would not slide off.

Pic 2

Shows how the anchor would look deployed. Slide the 550 cord through the blue snap link and tie it off with a slip knot, deploy the anchor and once it grabs I just wrap it around the green snap link 3-4 times to keep it from taking more line. Then move my anchor trolley to the front or rear. If I need to disengage just pull the slip knot and I'm free in about .3 seconds and the anchor line will float in place for retrieval.
