The Republicans need a big tent

Rate this topic

We've seen it here. People here who call themselves Republicans who argued that the Tea Party didn't want anyone else near the Republican side of the ticket, unless they were a Tea Partier.

Now, look at what we have.

'Oh that Ron Paul He's the crazy uncle.' Or 'Ron Paul's foreign policy is dangerous.'

Michelle Bachman is a kook for her beliefs.

They say the same about Perry and Santorum.

And then in the end it's 'they're all a disagrace and don't even deserve to be on that stage.'

So what is it?

We had Santorum win the Iowa Caucus last night and there are people not sure how the happened, yet, they want a big tent.

You want a big tent or not?

Eddy we don't need a big tent. That's what the Dems have. Did you see Jonesy and Dude's rants mere minutes after it looked like Santorum was the winner. They are scaird crapless and are shoveling their **** against a strong and rising tide.Their tent is so big, the multiple factions have to shout at each other across the wide spaces between their different goals. There are strong indicators that the working class blue coller dems are drifting out of the tent, because they are the people who the policies and the stagnation of their party in Washington isn't delivering jobs or security. Those are the people Obama denagrates as "clinging to to their guns and bibles." The dumb dems have dismissed the largest and most stable portion of their traditional base. The arrogance of the intelluctual elite on the left is going to be their Waterloo. Dem politicans in the House and the Senate are retiring in the face of sure defeat in November. The tide of dicontent and frustration caused by the Dems ineptitude and lack of leadership. Obama is running against Congress, including the confused and disarray'd democrats who have let him ignore them.

Be of good cheer. The land slide will be a Tsunimi of votes that will clean a lot of clocks inside the beltway.

The only thing we need to do is get the vote out and vote for anybody but Obama. That is the simple and effective formula. None of our primary candidates could be as effed up and leaderless as the Democrats have proven to be the past 3 years.

ABO is the way to go. The Tea party is an adjunct and a conservative movement within the Party. One thing for sure, we know they are going to go to the polls and vote for the republican choice, when the robust and interesting primary season develops the one person who made it thru the good fight.

We are having a great primary season. The ups and downs, the wide exposure of all aspects of the candidates is great. Perry may decide to go or stay, Bachman as well. She came in way below her expations. John Hhuntsman is still in the hunt. As is Newt. The next 6 days in NH should be intense for all who decide to remain in the fray. I'll bet Tim pawlenty is kickikng himself in the butt for foulding his tent after the Iowa straw poll in August.

I'm having fun watching all of the different angles and dramas. Relax and enjoy the ride. Keep it simple.

ABO is the way to go. Remember that.

I wonder how Obama made out in the dem side of the Iowa Caucus?

RJ, you might be old and liberal, but that doesn't excuse just making stuff up. There was no rant from me. No need to be "scaird crapless" as Santorum's a clown. He went all in on Iowa, harnessed the Evangelical vote and will be an also ran in less than a month. Iowa basically announce Romney as the nominee. New Hampshire will back this up.

By the way, your buddy Knight thinks that talking about people not involved in the thread by name is talking behind someone's back. Be prepared for lecture. LOL!

way too funny RJ,

did you even read Jonesy's post?

He rightfully called Santorum and big government liberal based on his actual track record, and scoffed at the Iowa conservatives for voting christian and not conservative.

your post here about Jonesy makes no sense whatsoever,

and of course Dude's response to you speaks for itself about you just making up stuff to support your points.

one by one the flavor of the week fails-where are those that a few months ago were cheering perry as the answer? or how about the pizza man and how he was going to take down obama, then bachman who was going to rally the conservatives-lately newt was going to be the "man" but he couldnt even got on the ticket in his own state-palin will pop her head up again and trump too under the indy label both just to get more press

the party is 1000% a total joke and a sham

in the end it will be mitt and obama-two dems running for the office of president-mitt will lose and the country will be stuck with another 4 years of a below avg president

correct me if I am wrong,

but ALL Republicans supporting WHOEVER wins the GOP nod,

sounds like a big tent to me.

the message has been "Don't pick an actual candidate, just support whoever wins"

how can a tent get bigger than that?

I'm kinda' hoping that the Republicans don't implode form all the infighting, but I'm already somehwat miffed that 'Mitt the Twit', (Thanks, Wraith. Consider that moniker fairly stolen.), is the anointed winner & nominee by MSDNC, and the other Obama lackeys in the Lame Stream Media. Let's let this process play itself out.

Our erstwhile fishweewee must be soiling himself at the thought of 'Mitt the Twit' as the presumptive nominee. :scared:

Yeah, looks like Mitt. I hope Santorum pulls Mitt farther right. Fact of the matter is any one of the Reps could do a better job than the failed Messiah currently in the WH. I am with my friend RJ, ABO Mitt or Santorum or Gingrich or Paul would be fine with me and I don't think the infighting will be enough to stop people from voting to get rid of Obama.

BTW, Mitt is probably the "biggest tent" for the Reps. If he gets in and has a Rep. Senate and House, let us see where he will take the nation. I am hoping for a much smaller federal government and a controlled budget which starts to pay down the $16 trillion in debt. Not gonna happen overnight but I will be watching everyday.

Look, everyone take off the twisted undies and take a deep breath. Eddy, you want a big tent? It couldn't get any bigger (for the republicans anyway)! Sure the prospective candidates are all deeply flawed and are about as attractive as the Chevy Volt (a "turd"). And, yes, they each reveal that the Republican party has no consistent platform and little in the way of real common goals and beliefs (that Santorum, Romney and Paul are so close makes this clear). All this would be cause for alarm but for the GIANT TENT that holds the party together: "Anyone but Obama...Come on in!!!". It's not a platform, or a belief system, or a set of specific goals, but it's all rpublicans have right now. It might be enough to win the election, but for choosing a "new direction for the country"? Pretty random. And no way to lead.

Yes, you are obviously much too intelligent for the rest of us. Liberalism, there it is...you can't make this crap up.:kook:

And you never answered my question, why don't you like the Tea Party? What in general has turned a "true conservative" like you against them?

i did answer you in that thread. and being right about Santorum and RJ being wrong makes me a condescending liberal now? you are off your rocker.

I'm not surprised you and RJ like Santorum. he's your kind of "conservative". he's for higher taxes, more spending and more nanny statism under the guise of social conservatism.. he even wants to outlaw contraceptives. he is for the Medicare Part d though so you'll still get your taxpayer funded viagra scripts filled.
