Let the fun begin - VS vs. ZBASS

"For years we stayed away from representing this manufacturer's product. Nothing against them, but I never pulled the trigger or made the appropriate contacts to bring in the line. We considered it, but never pursued it in earnest. First they didn't have the "bail" option reels in their line, the change of ownership almost a decade ago, other pieces that seemed to offer more for the offshore folks we tend to cater to... We even tried a different direction working with ZeeBaaS, a similar reel line from the fellow who originally created Van Staal. And, in that regard, found that they really did not quite have their act together, probably the same problems that put VS out of business in the first place, and a lingering doubt that they would be around long... As time progressed, our foray into different areas for an alternative to Van Staal proved less than satisfactory. We kept coming back to the fact that Van Staal reels are an excellent product for their intended applications, and, with ownership by a well funded firm they are a solid line to invest in, and long term a better reel to own than a ZB. It made sense to bring in the line, so we did just that. That's the background, and I can say with some acknowledgement of guilt, we should have been representing Van Staal reels many, many years ago. We're pleased to have in in our lineup, and glad to be able to offer these excellent reels to our clients! "
