Raise some steelhead with the Lifter

I found the Lifter on an Oregon steelhead blog. Right away I knew I had to tie some up for the Salmon. A great little pattern that is easy to tie and works (already tested it). Heavily influenced by the Gorman Bead Egg (another easy-to-tie steelhead magnet) the Lifter is speced for pink and chartreuse, but you could use whatever colors you like. I have also tied up a bunch with the colors reversed (pink tag and chartreuse body).

The Lifter

Original recipe and my tying notes:

Hook: Gamakatsu C14S #4-10 (I used my favorite 2x strong 1x short scud hook, sz 8-10)

Thread: 140 Ultra Thread Pink or Orange (I used Uni Hot Orange)

Bead: 5/32" copper (I sized down to 1/8" for the 10 hook)

Tag: Fine fl. chartreuse chenille

Body: Large shrimp pink cactus chenille (I used Opal Pink Estaz)

Collar: White sparkle emerger yarn (4 strands to envelop shank)
