OSHnjoe
I have heard it both ways: The cows lead the migration then the shorts and rats others have said quite the opposite I'd like to hear from the "oldtimers' what has been your experience with the migration sequence of stripers along the Jersey shore? M. saxatilis
Agrees with Drew - Larger fish leave first and return later. 'Large' being relative. You will likely always have a resident population of Stripers in local waters and these will inevitably be smaller on average than any others caught in these same locations during the summer feeding months. Thus by virtue of the fact, they are here when larger fish are not, and unlike larger fish, won't be caught by anglers getting that last trip of the season, or early worm soak in the spring. Life is too precious to fish ugly flies.
