366K vs. a projected 391K. Manufacturing is coming in stronger than expected as well. Economists are saying that the US economy is gaining strength, and that our biggest headwind is Europe. What a fustercluck that is.

And, even though we sit and watch what has transpired there, our leaders are taking us down the same path of socialist ways, class warfare and a welfare state. Stupid asses.

I love republicans, really I do. Good news is bad news, bad news is good news, and anything positive that happens during the Obama presidency is denigrated. Dena, you go looking for stink pickles amongst a bunch of pearls.

Look, the #'s don't lie.

Where is the hiring?

Why is the number of long-term unemployed (jobless > 27 weeks - published by Obama's BLS) not improving?

The # of unemployment claims is coming down - but that doesn't mean things are improving from the hiring perspective.  Fewer people are getting laid off (unless you work at a bank, bend over because here it comes), for now.

The problem is that I am not a Republican.

The other thing is that the world is teetering on the brink of economic collapse, and we hire a few Christmas tree sellers, and some folks call that good news.

Apparently, you can't tell the difference between stink pickles and pearls.

The level of long-term unemployed folks is at the worst levels since the Great Depression, with no relief in sight.  In fact, it's getting worse.

Furthermore, if when Europe $hits the bed, that is going to badly affect our (meager) exports to the Eurozone.  Depending on whose figures you use, 15-22% of our exports are to Europe.

The economy = Consumption + Corporate Investment + Gov't Spending + Net Exports.  All else equal, the economy takes a hit when exports decline.

Unfortunately, numbers CAN and often DO lie so don't be fooled. HardyG, if you want to stick to your good news is bad anews and bad news is good news label that you're trying to saddle all Republicans with, go right ahead but do so at your nown peril. A much more appropriate title for the current occupant of the Oval Office (as opposed to Commander In Chief) would be "Concocter In Chief" because Obama and his cronies have fabricated, spun and 'concocted' more lies and scams than any administration in history. The problem that this country faces right now goes way beyond Republican V. Democrats. Us patriots are in the fight of our lives and it is liberal communist progressives against  freedom loving, free market oriented conservatives. This country cannot withstand 4 more years with Obama at the helm. The numbers cited below are NOT lies and should be pretty difficult for someone with your beliefs to explain away.

uh, okay, that's great, but who the hell is hiring?

We were and so were a ton of other local landscape and tree companies here. We put an ad up on the Stockbridge site and it was amazing how many companies were hiring there in MA. Seems nobody wants to WORK anymore. We had a HELL of a time finding help. Don't tell me there's no jobs out there....just no jobs sitting in an office.
