Why can't they introduce stand alone legislation anymore ?

Isn't this either party's way of obstructionism ? They both do it, so why waste

time and money ?

The pipeline has nothing to do with the payroll tax.

We're being played by both party's, but this is an instance when they could

begin some true bi-partian politics, yet they can't bring themselves to do it.

Another reason an Indy voter seems like the bast voter, he'll vote for the best

from both party's for the best interest of the country.

Opinions ?

TY

this is partisanship at it's best. the vote was very much along party lines, and the republicans know that the bill really has nothing to do with with the payroll tax cuts, but rather the pipeline.

It's another big waste of time, thank you very much.

This bill wasn't intended to pass the tax cuts (that is something both sides want), but rather to force the bill to be stopped by the dems or Obama as promised on the keystone issue.

Once again, the middle class is being played the pawn.

Watch the rhetoric about the dems - it will be all about shutting down the government and blocking tax cuts, and you'll hear little about the metits of teh keystone pipeline.

Would you like me to post the vote tally?  It is not "partisan".  By the very definition of the word.

Excellent political move, if thats the kind of thing you are into.

Also, for the rubes, the medicare "doc fix" gets extended two years.  Lose lose-nobody in the White house OR the Senate can afford to lay a finger on anything Obamacare, and the doc fix is the tip of the spear.

And the pipeline thing is less of an issue beyond making excellent talking points.  A few Democrats have come out saying its better to be on the dole that to work on a pipeline (stupid).  The Watermelon Greens are done with Obama anyway, he failed the easiest mission a Democrat President has ever had in the history of American Politics.

The incusion of the pipeline is forcing the Democrats to go along with actually creating real jobs, it's no wonder their so upset. All the workers on that project will be self reliant and not need the dems for a handout. Since the dems have no other actual purpose, this could be trouble for them if this "job creation" fad takes off.

No... Indy voters as you call them cannot vote in many of the primaries, including local elections. This is a huge disadvantage and one reason we end up with the wrong people being elected to office.

I like standalone bills. Too much political maneuvering and strong arming when irrelevant issues are added to bills.

I think 10 dems voted for

and 14 republicans against

Point in fact, another legislation, The American Jobs Act is for creating jobs, so why does the pipeline need to be in this particular bill for creating jobs?

Both party's take from Oil Companies, so they're playing with us. They pay allegiance to Corporate america, not us.

Try getting legislation through as fast as corporate lobbyists do. Will never happen.

And they say our vote counts. Pfttt.

We're not doing it to import oil.  We're doing it so Trans canada can get their oil to a place to pour it in a boat.

Seems stoopid. they could run the pipeline across thier own country and do that without risking oil spills on our land for something we are not goona buy and use.
