Bait slinging combo

8 posts in this topic

I have a 12 foot TICA UEHA 4-10ounce with a broken real seat and guide and looking for a replacement that is lighter with more durable guides but can handle sinkers from five ounces to 10ounces tops. I was pairing it with a 6500 bait runner.

This is a bait rig. I am open to all suggestions from 11 -12 foot range and $250 range for rod and about $200 for reel. I like to hit distance so baitrunner feature is nice but optional.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Jay

I primarily fish piers and open beaches over the breakers with this combo.

for me - fishing from a beach -

for heavy duty surf:

11.6 St Croix Premier MH (it is stiff) / Shimano baitrunner 12k paired with it.

its a real heaver of a setup

and for moderate to lighter surf:

10ft St Croix Premier (MH) with a Shimano Thunnus 8000 (my fav bait combo)

I'll take the tics off yer hands if you're looking to get rid of it.

My suggestion, tsunami rod in your desired length. I have a 9'er I use for bait and like it.

I've got the tsunami airwave 11 foot xh, rate 4-8oz, and love it.  For a distance casting spinner with bait runner feature , I would check out the daiwa sealine black bite 'n run series,4500 or 5500.  It has the long long cast design spool and retails for around $150.
