Yes, Strip it if it has a coating and use an epoxy paint. I just had a floor done and they stripped the coating with floor stripper and threw some aluminum oxide down to act as an abrasive while using a burnishing pad. They then used an epoxy based colorant a painted the grout lines with a small brush. Very tedious. They then sealed the floor with stone, granite and marble sealer, Made by a company called Sparks. It came out fantastic.
