I watched some sharpies fish from the Rye Harbor docks around this time of the year, they where catching smelt. Are any guys out there still fishing for these tasty morsels?

I would love to do the same, just not sure what is the best time of the year to start fishing for ocean front smelt. Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Wow blast from the past.... I remember in th early 70's catching smelt at night off the commercial dock in Rye Harbor. long cane poles with line affixed to the end of the pole. Sea worm baits......If I remember correctly end of Oct and early Nov. then I remember guys fishing across from the Brat in Portsmouth but I never did that....anyway good luck!!
