Cops and the Hard-Left

Cops are public sector employees and by-and-large honorable and hard-working, while doing a thankless job in service of the city/state. They also happen to be union members.

-vs-

Cops help to keep down the poor and minorities, while enforcing the fascist aristocracies that keep people from making their way up in the world of earning a decent living. They serve only to break up families exporting undocumented citizens to their countries of origin while their family members starve.

-vs-

How could you possibly want to reduce public sector benefits packages and union rights. You're talking about cops and firefighters, people who put their LIVES on the line to keep you safe.

What baffles me is that the Republican party in Indiana and Wisconsin attacked public employees by taking away their right to bargain. Now in Wisconsin, they did not mess with the cops and firemen, however the cops and firemen were smart enough to understand that they were next.

How come the cops and firemen mostly support a party that would take away their rights to bargain?

The Fraternal Order of Police mostly supports Republicans?

Yes the police are union members but unlike lets say the auto workers, they do not bargain with their bosses directly. Politicians are in the mix and can be bought by the Unions. If the union pushes for to much of the pie the company throws up it hands and goes bust. Everyone looses. Public empolyees have pushed their bosses ( John Q public ) to the breaking point and beyond. Nassau & Suffolk county cops make over $100K, some are retiring with over that as pensions ( by the way how much they will make and how soon they can take it is all cops talk about, that and how to work the system to screw John Q ). Simple greed, we are not talking sweatshop conditions here. The " it's a dangerous job" is bull, more commercial fishermen die each year and more farmers get hurt than cops, the truth be told. Taxes can not be raised high enough to cover all those pensions and bennies in the end towns and counties and states will go bust. Buy a gun because it will get very interesting when it happens.

If it comes down to a cop arresting a good left leaning pro union hippy, or the cop losing his job, the hippy is going to jail.

Other than that, there is common ground there union brotherhood wise.

the difference in danger is a roofer , fisherman, etc (noble and hardworking all ) get hurt and killed by accident. And bless them for doing these very difficult jobs in the hardest of circumstances.

Cops get killed at the hands of savages who are allowed to prosper by the same politics that back these protestors. Cops are in unions but cannot strike under the taylor laws or they are fired ( air traffic controllers fired by Guliani and Reagan) so are they really union? Most cops back republican/conservative politics because it is generally more about working hard to take care of yourself than being a sponge on society. Cops see that the dems and libs have allowed the projects and ghettos to thrive and would rather side with the rich or the so called 1% because they are not robbing raping and killing anything they can't drive eat or screw.

Cops and fireman will continue to strive to do as well as they can rather than whine about what is owed them. as soon as 10 years ago no one wanted to be a cop,....it was beneath them and the pay was $hit, now for the simple tradeoff of of security and a pension they are treated like the enemy. Meanwhile NYPD members pay their own pension into a fund that is booming because of wise investments. Through all this financial upheaval there has not been one serious conversation about welfare reform, not taking welfare away from these lazy POS but even reform of any kind.

Thats why firefighters and cops would never side with the weak, apathetic whiners.

I hate comparisons like that though,

I'm not sure why people are ok slamming a cop,

but if someone posted a factoid like that to minimize the contributions of the military they'd be tarred and feathered.

I honestly don't know why people revere one uniform and demonize the other.

I am grateful that someone is willing to put on either.
