NEW WORLD RECORD STRIPER!

Paul Melnyk has heard that there is a new striped bass world record this morning!

An 81.6 pound slob was taken in Connecticut waters this morning on a live eel.

This fish was believed to have been taken on the Southwest reef by a fellow named Al Stromski.

The fish was weighed in at Shoreline Bait and Tackle in Westbrook Ct. WOW!

They're always hitting eels, and that's what the boats guys use there to target them there, but that fish was eating porgies - the inshore reefs are loaded with them and there have been whispers of big fish holding on them for a few weeks now. Still, I didn't expect this.

Everyone I've talked to so far has confirmed it, certified scale and all.

If its legit Congrats To The Angler!

I hope he didn't do anything to disqualify the entry. I do recall the record fluke a few years back was denied because she rested the rod on the gunnel during play.

From what i read she was truthful about the fight during the interview and admitted the rod either hit the gunnel or she rested it there for a second details blurry it was awhile since i read it.

You really need to cross your Ts and dot eyes when going for an IGFA.

Given that this catch is a big deal on the east coast I'd almost guarantee they will be giving a polygraph. They used one when the Japaneses guy tied the Large mouth record.
