Jbay tourament shirts

35 posts in this topic

don't sweat the SMALL stuff!!

Danny V

In all of the posts so far I haven't seen one with anyone talking about how much money was raised for such a good cause. If a shirt color or design or how much was in a bag is the reason that you came and wont return because of that then you missed the whole point of the fundraiser.

:th:

If free stuff is what makes or breaks the event for you, it's a shame.

This is thread Is about whether you like the shirt or not. I didn't so what. If you ATTENDED and liked it you should say so. What is not warranted is the need to critic me or anyone else who didn’t like the shirt and stated so on this thread. What gives you the right to question our motives and then preach how we lost sight of the reason we were there.

I paid my money to attend and will pay it again next year. Maybe the OP wants to send a message to the organizers, to make a shirt that the participants will wear. They are going to make a shirt anyway.

Let see if you are as quick with your wallet as you are to opinionate on others actions. If you didn’t participate, send $25 to the charity (CFR) and I will send you my shirt. If you don’t take my offer should I then post what a cheap SOB you are.

Your opinion is always appreciated your lecturing is not.

If he wanted to send a message to them then why not say to the women who handed him the shirt "I dont like this" instead of just walking away shaking his head. Many were not crazy about the shirt and guess what?? they said something to those involved with the event.

Ive attended the event every year. Ive donated to cr, gave business and sent business to captain kayak and I've brought people to the event who have purchased raffles and supported the event.

I, like you did say something to two of the three main organizers. Only the OP can answer for his actions. Just because it's a charity doesn't mean that you can not or should not point out some of the shortcomings. There is a fine balance between a good event and fundraising. Tipping the scale to far in any direction is a bad recipe. Maybe this will just serve as a reminder. ;)

Everyone has the right to their own opinion even if it is WRONG! If you were not at this Charity tournament you did not help the charity! So if you want to give your opinion that is fine! But it would carry a little more weight if you had spent your time and money and had contributed to this event. Those of us who were at it went to help the charity with an $85 dollar entry fee. With the entry fee and then the cost of attending this event (Fuel, tolls, food, bait etc) it is quite expensive! I went to help with the Charity, I fish often and do not need to go to an event to fish! But helping out with this is everyone who attends choice and chance to help.So if they were going to give a T-shirt it should have been one that would be appreciated by the PEOPLE WHO PAID to benefit this Charity! Why waste money on something that is not going to be worn and there for not going to advertise for the Charity or the sponsors of it. It is easy to give an opinion on the shirts, but if you attended the event maybe people would care about your opinion. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS so don't just sit back and knock the opinions of those who did attend and donate. Come to it and show that you deserve to have an opinion on it!

First of all you don't have to enter a fishing tourney to support a charity and you shouldn't be expecting anything for giving to a charity. I give to many charities just by sending donations, my wife has MS and that's my main charity but I don't expect gifts for my donations. You took it upon yourself to assume that someone was critiquing you, you're the one that said you collect shirts from all different events so why should a color matter anyway if you're only collecting? I was just following along with the posts. Sorry if my post hit a sore nerve with you. I said what I was thinking and if you didn't like it well that's your problem. I will not come back to this post again to get into a pissing match with you.

Shirts have a message...if they get worn, the message gets passed along, if they sit in a drawer....well...not the plan I am sure.

BINGO!

Make a shirt guys will wear...Other guys will see it and become interested...More guys at the event the next year.....More money for the charity.

If you're gonna make a t-shirt and 99.9% of the attendees are male, make it something they will wear, or don't make one at all.

I'm sure that no one came there just for the shirt. They came to fish, donate to a good cause, and have some fun.

But seriously, Pink and Purple on Beige....................

Come on people it is just a shirt. Complaining about it is like complaining about the bad weather on Sunday. It does no good. Is the shirt ugly, to some yes, to some no. Would a guy wear it, I did and I am proud to do so. Wear it or not it is your choice. If you want to support the sponsors call them and get a bumper sticker for your car or truck. The shirt stands for a great cause of which I am proud to support as many of you are. It even fit my long arms, not many shirts come in gorilla sizes. I also support everyone's opinions about the shirt, freedom of speech is just one of the things this country is about. So speak your minds but remember to do it with respect. Some of these posts are beginning to get nasty. But most of all God bless Jerry, Judy, Dee, and everyone else that helped putting on the event. I had a great time for a great cause and I will be there next year, tee shirt or not! Fair winds and following winds my friends.

Now we're complaining about t-shirts? LOL. How is there no reference to fishing when it says "Jamaica Bay KAYAK FISHING tournament" right on the front. Forget the t-shirt, remember the cause.

You are such a martyr and a better person than us heathens for not liking a shirt and posting in a what do you think about a shirt thread. You are still inferring that we are expecting gifts. That being said, good stay the hell out of the thread and go lecture your children. You're the one with the problem not me. I don't "follow along the post". I am an independent thinker and form my own opinion and won't follow the masses over the cliff because others are doing or saying it. Take care and don't let the door hit you in the ass.

PS: regardless of our disagreement I am sorry your wife has contracted MS and my prayers are with her.

I actually liked having something different than the usual gray shirt. I'll wear this when we have BC awareness days at work.

Some of you guys need to relax a little. :p

Well...I designed the logo with the ribbon... I also did the one that was used the last several years a jbay which i was kind of sick of.....I was asked to do another one and put I the focus a little more one the CFR charity and was probably influenced by those days when the football players wear something pink.....anyway at the end time was pressed and I didn't totally follow though with a shirt design.....i suggested a few including a variation of the one produced and just sent off the logo design--- in my mind I really just wanted ribbon on pocket area on front and the wanted to take one of the fish print designs i do like this one and create a new one for Jbay -...but I didn't have weakfish (not that that matters since there doesn't seem to be any) ... but couldn't pull it off in time....my bad.. I feel like I blew it.... especially after seeing this thread but my heart was in right place. Am i totally thrilled with shirt..I don't hate it, but i think the logo part is a pretty good graphic with the ribbon forming the kayak.. Do i see where guys are coming from in not wearing it..yeah kind of. Do i feel like its worthy of a thread-not really- especially a week after the fact. Will i ever use pink again. probably not, unless I do the ptown kayak fishing tourney. Will all tourney shirts have a fish on it. Yep.

Joe- you did not blow it, don't say that. the shirts have always been awesome. you did waht you had to do, and had to follow guidlines given to you.

i appreciate the honest feedback by those who gave their opinions. all i wanted was whether people liked the shirts this year or not. i don't really care if people agree or disagree with me, everyone is entitled to their opinion and should be able to voice it without being chastized and told they didn't give enough to charity, or they missed the point of ht charity, etc. i'm just trying to get the general consensus on the reception of the shirts with the anglers who were there, not their moral values.

for the martyrs and sinners and trolls who turned this into a discussion into something about $$$$ and charitys, and other off-topic nonsense: :moon:

I have not done J-bay yet. I want to but couldn't this year, we are planning on four or five guys next year. I give to a lot of charities because it makes me feel good not for shirts and gifts, but in all honesty the swag is great also. I saw the posting with the picture, I would wear the shirt anywhere or anytime, the ribbon turning into a kayak is awesome! As for the shirt being too much for women, guys you are so missing it, the chicks dig that sensitive man who is not afraid to wear a pink shirt ! I so wish I had gotten one, I would be strolling the malls in pink, hooking up with all those desperate housewifes!........................jack
