Took advantage of the day off to bottle up this years batch of hot sauce.  Tough growing season with too much rain and the deer munching on young plants, but my tabasco and ghost pepper plants persevered.  IMG_1366.JPG.05345b58f7168bfd32f26029b7784214.JPG

Looks good but straight ghost might be over the top for me.  Was a tough season, probably half never got to ripen.  Just put mash through sieve a few days ago myself.

The ghost peppers were much less hot than normal this year.  I've been seed-saving with the ghost for a few years, so I'm curious if it's actually a cross breed.   They were still really hot raw, but this sauce ended up much milder than I expected.  It's hot if you put a dab or two right on your tongue to taste, but gets diluted pretty easily on some potatoes or eggs.

Not my cookin but oh so good eats. My wife and I are in Pigeon Forge Tenn for the week. We ate at Wild Bear Tavern last night. Best German food I have found this side of the Atlantic. I had this.
