They were there week of Oct 16-23. Problem was finding a place to fish where the wind was not in your face. There was still bait around, and quite a few YEDs. Ocean temperatures are considerably warmer around the islands than north of cape cod, so I expect there will be fish around for a while yet.

 

Conventional wisdom for the Vineyard says the larger fish abandon the north side of the island before the South. I caught most of my fish on the South side. The north side fishes tough at night this late because the land breeze often results in an on shore (i.e., in your face) breeze at night. I was lucky the week I was there because there were no big storms out in the ocean and the south facing beaches had fairly gentle surf.
