Hmmm... I've been fishing Fla. back in the early 70's and everything was nice and easy. It's been several years now and the past few months I've been visiting Fla. and I noticed not many people fish at night. I had some decent fishing but I've always wondered why folks don't fish at night. What's with that? headscratch.gif

People fish at night, they're just really careful about being spotted. You're not allowed on the beach after sunset where I'm at. Black t-shirts, black board shorts, and a good pair of running shoes are essential gear for night time surf casting in my area.

Hmm... The places where I fished before ( Sebastian Inlet, Jupiter, Sanibel, Naples, Ft. Myers and most of the keys) are all legal. I even fished many of the lakes too. wink.gif

You asked, and I told you. You don't have to take my word for it. Sebastian Inlet is a state park, you can fish there 24-7.

We arent allow in a lot of areas here in the Cape... so you have to become

a ninja to catch the big snooks in areas

offlimits to us shorebound guys...beatin.gif Hell we can't even fish the rocks

on the Jetty (beach) so some of us wait till dark and then go...shaky.gif

Theres alot of reason why people don't like fishing at nite anymore..

One they get bother by the police> for some reason if you are fishing and somebody see you, they

will call it in and make sound like you are trouble..

What gets me, you would think the police would know we are just "FISHING"

but NO most of the time we will get run off..

the other reason you don't see many people fishing late at nite....it isnt safe

anymore..cant tell you how many times peoples car get broken into or

they get rip off..

When i fish at nite i alway carry... theres been a couple of times i had to

pull it out and let it be known..

if you want to try and fish at nite .... hey go for it... but make sure it is still

legal in your area and also be safe out there...

Coming back to your car in pitch black at 4am in the morning IMO isnt a

good move...

Thats one of the reasons why myself and others fish in dark clothes and

no lights...shaky.gif

that might sound crazy in itself... but it beats getting Killed because you

went fishing..

Yea, I strongly agree with safety issues. I've been fishing at Anna maria, skyway, venice, and other places for quite long since I came down to Florida. But there are so many people who just love to violate laws such as stealing, trying to put up fight, smoking pots, and others. When I reach 21, I think I would get myself a pxxxxl and carry it with me all the time. I mean things just get worst all the time...

Lots of people fish FL @ night its just not a mob scene like montauk (we have 663 miles of beaches fisherman tend to get spread out)...

People here also fish inlets ,jetties and piers @ night.

There a few that fish surf at night but they don't get in the water, for fear of "the man in the brown suit"...cwm27.gif

I don't have any issues with sharks, and I leave my truck unlocked at all times. If someone wants a bunch of empty coffee cups and a dixie cup full of dimes and nickels they won't have to break a window to get it. Cops are my issue. I've lived in S. Philly, Camden, and deepest darkest Atlanta, and I've never seen L.E.O.'s with attitudes like the ones in Brevard county. I don'ty know where they find these guys but they shouldn't be giving them guns.

Like I said, black t-shirt, black board shorts, and running shoes. No headlamps, no flash photography, and don't step on the turtles.
