If someone was WITH me,

I'd say, here try this.....

and give them a glass,

but to make a recommendation about a beer on the internet,

I'd think you'd concede it mandates a decent amout of adjectives.... no?

View PostSure.

I just prefer those adjectives not be girly.

impossible,

you can't describe how something tastes without sounding girly.

unless you limit yourself to "good".

Old Howling bastard barley wine ale was more gooder than other barley wines I've tasted.

I will sample OHB, compare it to Brooklyn Monster, and then get back to you on what's more gooder.

Getting back to girly adjectives used in beer reviews, and more specifically, the categories that define the parts of the whole.

Mouthfeel and finish sounds like how a partaker on the receiving end of a blue movie filming would describe their experience.

I am not a fan of the Brooklyn Monster,

not even a little bit.

DFH Olde School is much better in mho.

if you like the Brooklyn you might not like this.

cause of undisclosed taste stuff.

So, what you're aiming to convey is that Brooklyn Monster is not the shot to the jaw that [you're] accustomed to.

Right?

I am not into barley wines, I find the alcohol level over powers my taste buds.

But given it a blue point, who seem to be putting out quality with each new beer, and magish is recomending it, I think I'll keep an eye out for it and give it a try.

the label says it's named for a local character, and gives the warning that drinking too much of it might make YOU become said bastard.

I did not heed the warning,

I opened it for a female friend, who had a little,

and left me with the rest,

10% is a lot to deal with.
