Hobie Pedal adjustments ..

6 posts in this topic

Do you guys adjust your pedals so they don't bottom out while pedalling ? I'd imagine if you didn't ,it would result in unecessary pressure on mounting area .???

View PostI adjust the pedals so that my knees are slightly bent at the very end of the forward stroke. There is very little hull slap from the fins this way.

so your pedal bottoms out ? you feel a stop ?

I think what Speedracer was saying is that he doesn't extend his legs all the way so the fins hit the hull. so to answer your question......Yes, you should adjust the drive so that the fins "could" hit the hull if you fully extended your legs, but your pedal stroke should stop before the fins hit the hull.

There are times that you want your fins to be flat against the hull, like if you are fighting a fish and it goes under the kayak, or if you are in shallow water and don't want the fins to hit bottom.

Hope this helps!

I was thinking of another thread about leaks ? I was wondering if you didn't adjust your pedals, if you'd fatigue the plastic around the mount of the mirage drive ,.
