10' premier question

I have the 10' premier 3/4 to 4 oz. I originally bought it to plug with primarily but I think I may start doing double duty with it since Ive been using some of my other plugging rods more than this one lately. As far as sinkers go how heavy do you think this rod can handle? I have another rod i chunk with I would probably just throw clam with it when I want an extra rod on the surf.

Depending on how hard you lean on the cast, this rod can throw a 6 oz weight and bait without a problem. I have thrown 8 oz weights on a high/low rig without concern but I was only looking for ~40-50 yards. If you are looking for longer casts with 8+ oz weights, you might want to use a different rod.

I suggest you take it out and give a few casts with different weights and see what you think.

6 oz would be the max i'd throw. I'm thinking I should be good then. I have a tica rated for 8 oz I use for bait but before i started throwing some weight with this one I wanted to get another opinion from someone who uses it. Thanks.
