Anybody interested in a 1day Fly Fling on Long Island

Since hunting big stripers this time of year is primarily a bait and wait game in the deep hours of the night, except for those lucky enough to trek east to Montauk regularly, this is the time of year I like to hit the beaches before dawn and give the flyrod a good workout, throw some new patterns I tied and maybe hookup with a respectable fish or two. I'm thinking a 1 day impromptu gathering on a Saturday, 2-3 weeks from now, we can work on a date depending on location, tides, to get together and fish a bit. A nice BS session afterwards to swap stories, share patterns, maybe a BBQ at my backyard if I can convince the wife to cook and put up with us all. Backside of Demo, the sand flats at Sunken Meadow, or any place convenient for everyone.Anyone interested post name, preffered place and date, and we'll put it together. Like to have a reply by this sunday if possible so it can be planned for sometime soon. Anybody interested...Spigola is on vacation but I'm betting Lou will be up for it, so that makes 2 already. Hmmm, only two, that leaves plenty for me to eat at the BBQ!

SM may be suffering from departing sandeels, at this point, and you DO have to have a State permit to be there predawn.

Was thinking maybe backside of Demo or the sidewalk jetty, Saturday August 7. we'll have the start of outgoing few hours before dawn, should at least get to tangle with some blues by sunrise. It's last quarter so high water shouldn't limit access. If you can make it post and at the end of the week we'll work out the details...if anybody has suggestions pm me and I'll call you back by phone.

I'll be there. This weekend is suppossed to be "nice," in the normal sense of the word, so the Demo access will be busy. There won't be space there for cooking, so if you mean to set up a grill after cooking, better plan on moving across the water to the same Oak Beach Inn site where the Fall Fling meets.

Figured if the turnout was a dozen or so we could just go back to my house and BBQ in the backyard, I'm in Smithtown, only 20 minute ride. We could always cookout at the OBI if the crowd is big, lets see how many guys post and we'll go from there. Either way works for me.
