From what I understand only Lamiglas spines their rods - so unless yer Lami shopping, I wouldn't bothersmile.gif

 

If you were gonna do it anyway, maybe support the rod about 1/2 way with one hand and then turn it by the tip...see where it settles. The weight of the butt/cork/reel seat will off resistance as you try to turn the rod past the spine.

Tackle shop shouldn't get upset. Still worth checking on all sticks, you just might get lucky and find one that is close or there. Will be a much better pole to buy than the others.

In my experience, Lami rods are spined as well or as badly as anything else. I guess the wrappers just get lucky a lot. Tackle shops don't care. Half of them make custom rods and will help you. I've had shops (that one next to the Belmar docks with their warehouse in that huge storage bin) pull out 4 of the same model from the back and picked the best one.
