My dad had a ford dealership for a few years.

Older guys, remember Jimmy Carter? I was young but I remember well.

Carter gets in and the economy goes kablooey, the arabs pissed all over him cause they have no respect for girlymen, etc etc. Price of gas, house loans.

And what was Detroit's "contribution" to the whole morass? They went out and built POS cars!!!! REMEMBER? And by god here they go again! You can set your watch by itcwm27.gifcwm27.gifcwm27.gif

I can see it right now, remember it like yesterday. My mom rounded me and my little brother up one night. "Your dad's coming to get us and take us to Cherokee (restaurant), he has some car of the future he wants to show off"

Show off he did, he was BEAMING! I had never seen him excited about an auto before, heck he didn;t even like the business. "See, not too big, not too small. Plenty of room in the back, looks cool. Little six cylinder engine, pretty peppy huh?"

cwm31.gifIt was a Ford Grenadamoon.gif

So while the Obama Volt may not be the POS the Grenada was (but it damn well may be), we do have a car rushed out the door to satisfy the political owners of the company, built by a union that is getting so much money to work that the gummit has to help pay them, a car nobody can afford right now (and even if you could, you are paying for a pickup truck and getting a roller skate), that only runs when IT wants to run (screw where YOU want to go), and the gummit has to discount it 20 percent BEFORE they even try to sell the first one.

Boys n girls, this is just hilarious. Sad, but hilarious.

What do you believe is the root relationship between pinko presidents and crappy manufacturing of automobiles?

Selective history is a wonderful thing. No doubt Carter was an economic failure as Prez. But guess you forgot about Ford and the WIN (Whip Inflation Now) buttons.

Or Nixon and the wage and price contols which led to stagflation. But what the hey? When Clint gets in, he'll take care of it. Perhaps.

Explaining the 1970s stagflation

Following Richard Nixon's imposition of wage and price controls on August 15, 1971, an initial wave of cost-push shocks in commodities was blamed for causing spiraling prices. Perhaps the most notorious factor cited at that time was the failure of the Peruvian anchovy fishery in 1972, a major source of livestock feed.[16] The second major shock was the 1973 oil crisis, when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) constrained the worldwide supply of oil.[17] Both events, combined with the overall energy shortage that characterized the 1970s, resulted in actual or relative scarcity of raw materials. The price controls resulted in shortages at the point of purchase, causing, for example, queues of consumers at fueling stations and increased production costs for industry.[18]

Maybe its that old liberal falsehood.

They believe they can fix other people, places and things.

They believe thats what they're supposed to do.

Hell I thought it was an AA slogan till I started reading this website.

Just yesterday somebody here was talking about the doctors and the gun thing. Finally someone lets out-"well some people don't know right from wrong and 'we (whoever that may be)' need to tell them.

No way to live IMO.

I agree on not being able to fix people. Compassion more often than not is to let 'em fail and learn from it.

It's called the "Nanny State" where Nanny knows best.

There's a real life model to look at too, go to the BBC News website and select the UK edition and read some of it - you'll get a picture of what a burgeoning nanny state looks like.

Great Britain is a prime example of a state where increasingly all good is damned for the good of all.

Politicians and diapers should be changed often and regularly,  invariably for the same reason.
