Spot vs Croaker

I prefer to fight a croaker and eat a spot..Most people I know love to eat croakies more..

 

They're both in the same family as drums & whiting (kingfish).

None that I have ever seen in the 30 years fishing the bay & coast..but I do catch an occassional spot that does croak..

Sometimes the little nub where the pectoral fin sticks out can be a bit raised and sometimes darker, but there's not a "spot" on the surface of the skin.
