redrock
I spent the better part of my day getting my fishing equipment ready for my Plum Island trip. I have loaded my ABU 6500 CT and my 6500 TC with 15 lbs mono with about 75 yards of 30 lb shockleader. I've packed my tackle box with all my normal drum fishing tackle which is mostly fish finder rigs, circle hooks, weights and the like. Can you guys think of anything else I need to bring because my fishing time will be very limited. Also, do you think I will need chest waders? DAQ
Waders are helpful but not absolutely necessary. I wear them when I am up there though. Embrace American Privilege

rocket500
You can wet wade this time of year, just bring a bathing suit if you don't want to truck waders around. Most spots you won't need to really be in the water- the currents are very strong around the river mouth and much of the beach falls off very steeply (gets deep fast) so wading offers little casting advantage. Bring some bluefish plugs. Bug repellant! Stop in at Surfland (you can't miss it!) and ask them where there's been some action.
