Scotty mounts & other questions

3 posts in this topic

I was going to install a Scotty flush mount #244 but when I opened up the pkg the tube has a soft plastic cap for the top, but the bottom of the support tube itself is not sealed headscratch.gif . Is this normal? I've only used the regular triangular deck mount #241 before and a sealed bottom is not an issue since it lies flat on the deck surface.

I can always try to cap it w/ pvc but I could return it too...

Also, for non-Scotty flush mount rod holders (the kind most fishing yaks come with in the rear), if I can't get access underneath to use nuts & bolts, what's the next best option: ss screws, rivets, or well-nuts/expansion nuts using the "drill-through" method?

Thanks!

View PostYou got some old inventory. The flush mount is capped nowadays. If you use the surface mount you get more rod butt clearance.

Ahh, makes sense. P.O.S. I may opt to use 3 deck mounts on the slide trax system and a Ram ball in the center console instead of drilling flush mounts everywhere. Thanks Barrell.
