Protecting Peters Pond

in Sandwich. The recent Order of Conditions by the canvesback homeowners association, approved by the Sandwich Conservation Commission and the Natural resource Department will leave Peters Pond with further contamination for this public resource to over come.

The basic conditions approved will allow the building of [8] 10x50 peirs along the land front that there property abuts. Keep in mind !00 feet of the shore line is open space protected by MGL91 [Colonial Law} where a proper permit is reguired by the Commonwealth of Mass.

Keep in mind they allready have some 8 illegal piers, floats, stone walls, clearing of this open space by night fall and other various illegal infractions over the past severel years in an attempt to make this public area completly private for just those folks in the association. Not only do they get away with violating our great pond[Peters] over the past few years.,but now they get rewarded

The building of all the piers will only add to the problems the GREAT Pond Peters will have, Bigger boats as we have no limit on size or horsepower and more gasoline being discharged into the water.

Bring up Randy Hunts Blog and look at my article on Say No to Private takeover of a Public resource.for further information

A letter of appeal will be filed with the Commonwealth, but if more fishermen would take the time to call 508 946 2708 David Johnston perhaps we can correct this travisty to our natural Jewel Called Peters Pond

The docks that are already in there are totally out of place for this small pond of ours. Some are bigger than the salt water/deep draft varieties and others are just small floating eye soars. This is/was a small pristine Cape pond W/ everything from sunfish to 15 lb. Salmon ! Keep in mind that this pond is spring-fed from the bottom and doesn`t replenish it`s contents like a lake that is fed by an in-coming creek as well as an out flow. Approved by our Conservation commission and Natural Resourse Dept. ! I highly question their motivation to approve such degrading acts to this "little" pond ... shame on you !!! I think it`s time to clean our house of these politically oriented puppets !!!
