Chirono-Bobbin for CraneBows

Its sure nice to have Fishing Buddies who know other Fishing Buddies. My friends friends showed him a midge technique they refer to as as Chirono-bobbin. A simple technique just like indicator nymphing, except you use Chironomids under the Indicator instead of nymphs. The deadly ones are ones that look like Big Red Zebra Midges. The Reservoir we fish is well known to hold Big Rainbows and after a couple weekends of fishing it I now know why. Crane Prairie Reservoir is the name of the reservoir and that's why tho locals refer to them as CraneBows. Try to bring the big boys in on a 4 wt is a Hoot but I think it might be time to get a 6 wt so when the 10 pounder comes along I'll have a better chance at landing him biggrin.gif.

Very nice bows! Looks like they clip them to identify hatchery fish.

When the fishing is hot on chironomids, the action can be none stop. Pretty much bobber down all day. Chironomids make up about 50% of the trouts diet in the spring time.

Some pics of naturals and imitations from this spring.
