Lami?

Rate this topic

I recently acquired a used rod. I believe it to be a Lami honey.

It was custom made by larry's tackle here on Martha's Vineyard.

It says SB 136 2M on it. and it was made sometime in the 80's (don't remember of hand).

Anyone got any info on this?

Thanks.

Lots of info... good reading. It's glass, not graphite. It's a great all around round, slow action, big plugs, pencils, jigs, bait... came in white, honey and black. Old school. It was a blank that many shops built full length, but many cut from the tip or butt or both to make it do what they wanted it to.

View PostWow, Thanks!

You are welcome. Pretty much any time I have had a question about a custom rod or blank I do a search in the rod building forum or post a question there. Lots of know how there. I also google... Lami catalog with that listed still pops up on-line.

I've always laughed at that 3-5 oz. rating.

It throws about 3/4 oz to 3 oz. 3.5 is pushing it. Try throwing 5 and the whole tip section will bounce like an elephant on a trampoline for 5 seconds cwm27.gif

Anyone have a good reel suggestion for that rod? I'm pretty new to surf fishing. (my boat is out of commission and may be for a while.) I have quite a bit of gear, a Tsunami trophy 7'6" with a penn 4000 class on it, a 9' Airwave with a 5000 Stradic, a couple cheap 8' penn combos, and a 11' tsunami bait rod with a shimano baitrunner on it (Never used). I know next to nothing about big rods (I'm a boat guy) So any advice would be appreciated!

What should I use the lami for?

Lami's ratings are jigging weight not casting weight. Why? who knows!!
