Rigging a whole bunker to get down deep

There's an infamous technique known as yo-yo'ing where weights, like old spark plugs, are forced into a whole bunker's gullet and the bait is jigged deep off the waters surrounding the Elizabeth Islands. The problem with this is that sometimes the bait is ingested by a striper when the hook pulls free or the line breaks and the striper is left with this undigestable mass of metal in its gullet.

It's caused controversy in the Martha's Vineyard Derby. Read "The Big One" by David Kinney. cwm15.gif

Well if your talking about a whole dead bunker use a cartwright rig. WHich is basically a diamond jig with 2 hooks. the second hook is attached with a sashweight chain.

google the consequences of yo-yoing bunker, I personally wouldnt go for it as stated above its hell on the fish if you dont land him and he makes off with the bait
