Porch Paint

I was advised to use a semi or solid stain and to avoid paint when I did my deck. I was told it weathered better and did not usually suffer from peeling like paint can.

It has been a year, shows some wear in high traffic areas but overall it is holding up well

The problem I've had with the paint I used is peeling. Although the porch is graded, some water still pools causing the peeling. Would hate to totally strip the porch of paint. I was considering an oil based product this time???

If the paint that is already on the wood is latex, it is generally a bad idea to put an oil based paint over it. You are best off stripping the whole thing. Any paint you put on top of pealing paint will just come up with the old bad paint.
