View PostPoppy,

Love your belt combo. Where can I get that belt, surf bag, & water bottle w/holder?

Tks, JW

That belt and bag are from the old army LBE system (load bearing equipment - can't just say belt in the army). Can be had for cheap at any Army Navy store.

ill take some pictures tomorrow i think if i remember correctly i went a foot down then just wrapped the rest of the rope around the rope starting at the top then there was a loop big enough for me to put the other end through to secure it so it doesn't unravel.

ill make a thread about it tomorrow or the next day depending on when i have time

I read the other day (not sure what site), someone made their own lanyard, it was very cool. he got a wooded dowl, I forget maybe 1" wrapped 100lb mono or leader around it tight, put it in a pot of boiling water (forget how long redface.gif ) then put it in a pot of cold water. (I think). well the end result was a perfect coiled lanyard and he crimped ends on it for whatever type of end you wanted.

the picture he posted was nice! wish I could find where I saw it.

It was probably here http://www.stripersonline.com/surfta...ard+3 00+mono

I tried the 300# mono per the quoted thread. It seems that the mono tends to get tangled like your telephone cord to the handset. I have been using old cell phone charger cords with nice clips on both ends. I put the end of the cord through the clip, double the cord over, whip the end like you do on the end of rope with left over braid, super glue the braid, then use shrink tubing over the glued braid.

Works great.

I need to buy a multitool that has a layard. Just bought a new dual Rapala set this spring and lost it last night after I impaled a treble hook from a Bomber plug into the back of my hand.

The worst part is that the stripers were hitting last night and i had to leave to go use my Dremel to cut the hook in order to get it out of my hand. Drove home at 12:30 am with the plug hanging there. I left everything in the car last night and this morning I cleaned it out and saw I dropped both the long-nose pliers and cutters. That's the second pair i've lost!

I just made two of them with 400# mono and they came out real nice. I made one with 300# and its not heavy enough, not even close.

I am getting some 500, 550, and 600 to try soon.

So far so good. I added #9 split rings to these and they are ready to go -

Here's mine. I need to replace the cheapo lanyards that came with my pliers, but I've got a few old cell phone chargers that I'll use - like the one attached to the lipper.
