I had finally let the kids talk me into getting into the water today and was about waist deep when I looked to the north and saw the water "popping". Told the kids I had to go and ran up to tie on a bucktail. The bunker blitz continued on down the beach and we had a blast snagging fresh bait. I was hoping there were blues pushing them but the only thing we saw putting pressure on them was 1 dolphin. After they passed by you could see the oil slick left in the water. I was amazed how close they were to the beach. One of my kids said a bunker actually beached itself but went back out with the waves. We cut some of the fresh bunker into chunks and preceded to catch a couple nice sharks. Up until then we had only caught a skate.

Not to be a kill-joy but in the future you might want to rethink letting your child paddle around on a boogie board in the middle of a school of flipping bunker. Sharks biting the hands of surfers is the most common type of "shark attack". The belief is they mistake the hand-flash of a paddling surfer for a fleeing baitfish. It would seem a school of bunker flipping on the surface would be the ideal scenario for that to happen. Just a thought.
