rubber eel imitations

i know large plastic rubber eels are a pretty popular lure to fish with i was wondering what makes you decide to tie one on? is it a time of year or just when theres lots of eels in the water or is a lure you use when everything else isnt producing ? daytime or nighttime or does it not matter?

I'll typically toss them at night in the same areas that I toss other lures. They are always in my bag. They catch fish sometimes when nothing else works. The storm eels with the swimplate work very well as do the femlee eels. I personally like the sizes around 2 oz mostly because of the outfit I fish with. That said, if I wasn't so lazy, I'd be fishing with live eels redface.gif

Only thing I'll add is that the Point Jude Wobble head is hard to beat when using plastic eel imitations.

Emerged - It looks like the sluggo is fastened to the sled. Is it?

Yes that is a Sluggo, but I have had just as much success with Hogy's on the PJ Wobble head. This season I've used the Got Stryper on the wobble with good results.

Thanks, Kima! I was gonna let it go but....

It may be me but the head of the sluggo looks like its glued/epoxied to the sled/wobblehead. I'd like to try rigging one to the sled/wobblehead and would like to 'do it right'. Thanks!!

The regular wobblehead with the fixed hook ,has a spike on the end to hold the rubber bait, whatever brand (or a dead eel) .I suppose a drop or two of zap a gap wouldn't hurt. The wobblehead eel tube has a swinging hook in front attached by 60lb wire to a second hook.
