stuck ferrules

Tried to put a ten foot two piece conventional togethter this morning after a three year period in which it was in a vertical rod rack in the garage here in nj. tip top would not go all the way in and now I cant separate the top from the butt. I figure a bud and i can do some twisting and get the rod apart but am concerned about a repeat performance. When i was younger i'd' roll the ferrule in my hair and that seemed to work. There has to be a better way. Not that much foliage up there anymore. Tom

A friend of mine showed me a trick when we were loading his vehicle right before leaving for the expo. He had a rod that was 'welded' together that the two of us tried to separate...... which didn't work. He then stuck the rod ferrule in a snow bank and left it for 15 minutes or so and after waiting.....surprise....... it separated with a quick, easy turn.

Try icing the ferruled section down for +15 minutes or so and it may work for you
